The
regular meeting of Paul Stewart Irwin Post No. 136 was called to order by
Commander John Metz at 7:00 PM in the post home. An opening prayer was offered by Chaplin
Monta Plank followed by the members reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and the
Preamble to the American Legion Constitution.
A short recognition ceremony for the POW/MIA's of our country was
conducted.
There
were 34 Legion, 0 S.A.L., and 0 Guests present
Reading of the minutes. Minutes were
posted on the bulletin board and also posted on the Post Web Site. Approved as Written.
Finance Report. Finance
officer and Adjutant presented finance reports.
President of the BOG gave the Canteen Report. Reports were approved as
presented.
New Members: Verlyn Cheevers was presented as a new member to the
American Legion and was welcomed as new members to the Post.
Old
Business:
Post
cleaning to be conducted by the Legion at 11AM on Sunday 9 August 2015. More to be done after Old Settlers.
Heater
for the patio has been tabled until the September meeting when documents are to
be presented for members to review and vote on.
Next
meeting of the Old Settlers committee to be 6 August 2015 at 7 PM. Volunteers are still needed to assist in the
various activities the Post is sponsoring.
Drawing
tickets are available for the $500 gift certificate from Stroots Locker. Price is $10.00 each and there will be only
250 sold. Help support the post by
buying a chance to win the prize.
As
part of the Old Settlers activities, the Ladies Auxiliary is having breakfast
as a fund raiser. The price is $5.00 for
biscuits and gravy, hash brown potatoes and plain biscuits. For an additional $2.00 you can have a made
to order omelet.
New
Business:
The E-Board and BOG will now be
meeting at the same time in order to improve the communications between the two
groups.
After a combined meeting with
the E-Board and BOG is was voted that Jimi Willie would be banned from the post
due to his previous conduct. Mr. Willie
was offered to be present to give his input but did not appear.
An offer has been made for
donation of a full dress uniform from a Mulvane resident. A motion was made by Rob Brown to accept the
donation and was seconded by Del Kenneson.
Motion passed.
Dave Williams invited all
members to attend a celebration of his 40 years of American Legion
membership. The event is scheduled for
23 August 2015, 6PM at his home.
For Good of the Legion
Legion Rider: A Welcome Home is scheduled for the evening
of 7 August 2015. All are invited to attend. The riders will be supporting the funeral
ceremony for a homeless veteran on 4 August 2015.
SAL: Nothing presented
Ladies Auxiliary: Nothing presented.
Legion: As a part of Old Settlers, the Legion is will
be having a drawing for a $500.00 gift card from Stroots Locker. There will be only 250 tickets sold and they
are $10.00 each.
